Relax amidst greenery. Experience the spa town.
At Bäcksteinerhof, you stay among orchards and vineyards, yet you’re still less than two kilometres from promenades, arcades, cafés and restaurants.
Do you love contrasts as much as we do?
Between mountains and palm trees
Have breakfast among orchards in the morning, stroll through Merano’s Arcades later, and enjoy the peace and quiet back at the farm in the evening.
Or are you more the type to fuel up at breakfast after a restful night, work off some energy hiking or cycling during the day, and treat yourself to an aperitivo in the evening on one of the spa town’s Mediterranean squares?
At Bäcksteinerhof, you don’t have to choose: Peace and town, nature and indulgence are all close together here
Less than 2 km to the centre
Promenades, the old town, Merano Arcades and the Terme Merano are not far from Bäcksteinerhof—close enough for a spontaneous stroll around town, and far enough to enjoy the peace and quiet back at the farm afterwards.
Indulgence just around the corner
You’ll find cafés and restaurants close by—especially around Brunnenplatz in Obermais, only about a kilometre from Bäcksteinerhof. Ideal for a quick coffee, an aperitivo, or a relaxed dinner.
A garden worth a day
The Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle are among the most beautiful garden landscapes in Europe—varied, spacious, and definitely worth a day trip.
Relax at the Terme Merano
Right in the heart of the spa town, the Terme Merano invites you to switch off and unwind—with pools, saunas and plenty of space to relax. As guests of Bäcksteinerhof, you receive a 10% discount on admission.
History above Merano
High above Merano lies Tyrol Castle, once the ancestral seat of the Counts of Tyrol and today an impressive place for history, culture and sweeping views over the Burgraviato.
From grape to wine
We deliver our grapes to the Meran Burggräfler Winery. At a wine tasting or a cellar tour, you can follow the grape’s journey into the glass—and discover how Merano wine is made from the fruits of our region.
Straight from the farm into nature
Nature begins almost right on our doorstep. Whether by bike into the Passeier Valley, on foot along the Tappeinerweg, or at a leisurely pace on the Maiser Waalweg—many beautiful routes start nearby and lead straight into the landscape around Merano.
01
Maiser Waalweg
The typical Merano Waalweg passes right by the farm—rustic, through orchards and woods, with hardly any incline. An easy hike of around 7 km to Saltaus.
02
Above the rooftops of Merano
The Tappeinerweg, around 7 kilometres long, runs above the town with hardly any incline and offers beautiful views over Merano and the surrounding landscape time and again. Getting back is easy by bus—or you can combine the walk with a detour into the centre.
03
Cycling into the Passeier Valley
From Bäcksteinerhof, you can set off by bike along the Passer River into the Passeier Valley. Passing Saltaus, St. Martin and St. Leonhard, you can explore the valley’s villages at an easy pace on two wheels.
And your car can take a holiday too.
Flexible travel by bus, train and bike.
The nearest bus stop for Line 3 is about 400 to 500 metres away. With the South Tyrol Guest Pass, which you receive from us free of charge, you can conveniently use the included public transport in South Tyrol during your stay.
This makes it easy to get to Merano town centre, the train station, or on to many excursion destinations in South Tyrol—without a car. And you can also explore the area wonderfully by bike or e-bike straight from Bäcksteinerhof.
A hidden gem? Gladly.
During your stay, we’re always happy to help with our personal recommendations—whether for excursions, hikes, bike tours, sightseeing, rainy days, or a great restaurant.
And some of our best insider tips? We’d rather share those in person. Not everything has to be on the internet…
