Breakfast

We have set this table for you today.

In the Meranerstube dating back to 1808

A set table has a personal touch: you sit down, slowly ease into the day, and don’t have to search for your own breakfast among buffets, people, and dishes.

With us, you choose what you fancy in the morning. We prepare your breakfast for you and are happy to bring it directly to your table – piece by piece, just as it suits you.

Perhaps it’s the homemade cake, a glass of juice from our own fruit, or the jam we made ourselves. Or the fresh farm butter from our friend in Sarntal, which might even evoke childhood memories. Often, it’s precisely these small things that make a morning special.

With us, you should feel: We have set this table for you today.

My breakfast. Made for me.

With us, the day doesn’t begin at a buffet, but at a set table. We want to show you what high-quality food, carefully selected products, and homemade items can do. Our breakfast should not simply be a service that comes with the overnight stay, but a personal and enjoyable start to your day.

Less abundance. More taste. More appreciation.

My Enjoyment

We prefer to choose consciously, paying attention to freshness, origin, and taste, and preparing what truly brings joy. Some things come directly from our farm, others from people and businesses whose products we know and value.

This way, food can be something special again – instead of just part of the largest possible selection.

And because we only prepare and serve what is actually desired, we can work more carefully, ensure greater freshness, and at the same time handle food more consciously.

Food with people and stories behind it.

For us, good food has a story. We make many things ourselves. Other items come from people near and far whose work and products we know and value. For us, taste, quality, and origin are crucial – and the knowledge of who and what is behind a food item.

As close as possible. As far as sensible.

Where possible, we prefer products directly from the farm. Our eggs, for example, mostly come from our own chickens all year round – just a few meters from the breakfast table. True zero-kilometer goods. However, good taste for us does not end at a kilometer limit. For instance, selected delicacies from Southern Italy may also find their way to our breakfast table if their quality, ripeness, and taste are convincing.

Breakfast with atmosphere

In the Meraner Stube from 1808

For us, the room is also part of a good breakfast.

Our room guests start the day in the historic Meraner Stube from 1808. A room with history – and with a very special connection to our family.

In 1908, our grandfather acquired the original Meraner Stube from one of the Merano guesthouses of that time, which was selling its furnishings. The Stube was darkly varnished and then installed in the residential building of the Bäcksteinerhof.

For the family of about 15 people at the time, it was much more than just a beautiful room: it was the only heated room in the house and thus, for many years, the center of family life. Here they ate, sat together, told stories, and shared many beautiful moments.

When the old residential building was demolished in the 1970s, the Stube disappeared into a storage room for several decades. Later, it was lovingly restored by hand by conservators and finally integrated into the Bäcksteinerhof as a breakfast room.

Today, our guests sit where generations before them gathered – and begin their day at a set breakfast table.

The Fireplace Room

In the Stadel from 1932

The guests of our lofts have breakfast in the romantic Fireplace Room in the historic Stadel – a room that tells much of the history of our farm.

Exactly here used to be the dwelling of the so-called “feeder,” the employee who took care of the animals on the farm. Right next door, hay was stored in the Stadel, and below were the stables. When livestock farming was abandoned in the 1970s and the farm switched to fruit growing, the Stadel lost its original purpose and remained largely unused for many years.

Only in 2023 did the younger generation begin to breathe new life into it. During the careful renovation, the historic exterior walls, facade, and roof truss were completely preserved. Inside, a modern KlimaHaus A was created, without losing the original character of the Stadel.

Today, the Fireplace Room is located where the former feeder’s dwelling was – a breakfast and lounge area for the guests of our two lofts. The wooden staircase was crafted from the old floorboards of the original Stadel bridge, and when the fire flickers in the wood stove, the history of the old Stadel is not only visible: you can feel it and even touch it.

Thus, each breakfast gets its fitting setting: personal, steeped in history, and with enough time to simply enjoy the morning.

Personally compiled – also for special dietary needs.

Just as it suits you

Because we personally prepare your breakfast for you, we can also accommodate special requests and intolerances.

Whether lactose-free, gluten-free, or for specific food allergies – if you inform us in advance, we will gladly prepare for it. Oat drink instead of cow’s milk, gluten-free rolls, or gluten-free muesli, for example, are easily possible.

It is important to us that in the morning you don’t just find something you can eat, but receive a breakfast that suits you, tastes good to you, and does you good.

We only ask that you inform us of any special dietary needs as early as possible before your arrival, so that we can prepare everything for you in peace.
