Between forests, meadows, and red porphyry rocks, you’ll find viewpoints, small churches, and modern architecture. Some places tell centuries-old stories, while others simply frame the view of the landscape.

Knottnkino: Landscape on the Big Screen

At Rotstein Knott above Vöran, there are no movie posters, but weather-resistant cinema seats. Nature provides the “show”: The Adige Valley, the surrounding mountains, and changing cloud formations create a panorama that looks different at any time of day.

The Knottnkino³ circular trail connects three striking porphyry rocks – Rotstein, Beimstein, and Timpfler Knott – and thus three viewpoints. If you take your time, you won’t just experience a single photo opportunity, but the changing landscape along the entire path.

Churches as Traces of Settlement

The Church of St. Kathrein is one of the most famous motifs in the area. The parish churches of St. Nikolaus in Vöran and St. Johann in Hafling also offer insights into local history. Further up, mountain chapels like St. Oswald and St. Jakob remind us how early the high plateaus of the Tschögglberg were settled and cultivated.

Modern Architecture in Falzeben

The Meran 2000 cable car in Falzeben forms an exciting contrast. Its modern design language shows that an excursion to the region’s sights doesn’t just mean history. Traditional cultural landscape and contemporary infrastructure stand side by side here.

Mindful on the Go

Many of these places are in sensitive natural areas or are active sacred spaces. Stay on marked paths, leave no litter, and enter churches quietly – this way, we preserve the special atmosphere for future visitors.

Information: Tourism Association Hafling–Vöran–Meran 2000
Image: Hubert Berberich / HubiB, Wikimedia Commons, CC BY 3.0.

Nature cinema, old churches, and modern mountain architecture: These special places tell stories of Hafling, Vöran, and the Tschögglberg.

[107

post-1306","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-places
["GET
